Amar Pal is a Bengali folk singer and author. He was born on 19 May 1922. He learned folk songs from Durga Sundari Devi. After this, he also learned classical music from Ustad Ayat Ali Khan. He started his career in 1951 by singing in Akashbani, Kolkata. After this, he worked as a playback singer or music director in Bengali films. He participated in many folk music seminars and workshops around the world. He also became the vice-president of the West Bengal State Music Academy. He was given the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award by the Government of India in 2007.
After this, he was given the Sangeet Mahasamman Award by the Government of West Bengal in 2012 for his contribution to folk music. He was also honored by Rabindra Bharati University and Burdwan University. He wrote two books named Banglar Loksangeet and Banglaar Nadir Gaan.
