Buddhadeb Guha is an Indian singer, writer, and painter who generally works in the Bengali film industry. Buddhadeb Guha was born on June 29, 1936, and grew up in Calcutta, Bengal Presidency, British Raj. Buddhadeb completed his college at St. Xavier’s College, University of Calcutta. He was a charted accountant by profession in 1976, and also won the Ananda Puraskar. He wrote a Rivu series dedicated for his friends in youth. He was also a singer. He learned Hindustani classical music and old-style Tappa songs. He also got trained at the Tagore School of Music, Dakshinee.
He has been a painter too. His writings and art continued until the end of life. Buddhadeb Guha has written more than 100 novels. Some of his famous novels are Adbhut Lok (Sahityam), Baje Chandanpurer Korcha (Deys), Babli (Sahityam, 1985), Doshti Uponyas (Ananda Pub), Gunja Phuler Mala (Deep Prakashon), and Panchasti Priyo Goipo (Sahityam). His famous Rijudas are Albino (Ananda Pub), Saptam Ripu, Gugunogumbarer Deshe (Ananda Pub), and Rijudar Sone Lobongi Bone (Ananda Pub). Buddhadeb died on August 29, 2021, in Kolkata, West Bengal, due to post-COVID-19 health complications. His age was 85 at the time of his death.
