Srijato Bandyopadhyay is a famous Indian poet who writes in Bengali. For his novel Udanta Sawb Joker: All Those Flying Jokers, he was awarded the 2004 Ananda Puroskar. He was named the Best Lyricist at the 2014 Filmfare Awards East for the song “Balir Shohor” from “Mishawr Rawhoshyo.” Along with another novel, Briksha Onubadak, Srijato’s poetry piece, “Megh Bodoler Kabbi,” was published in the International Kolkata Bookfair 2020. In addition to penning music and poetry, he also undertakes public speaking and anchoring. He has additionally participated in a University of Lowa writer’s workshop. Srijato was from a musical family at birth. He was born in Garia and raised in Kamdohari, Narkelbegan. Srijato is the nephew of musician Kotali Gharana Pandit Manas Chakraborty, as well as the grandchild of classical vocalist Sangeetacharya Tarapada Chakraborty.
His mother, Gaan Saraswati Srila Bandopadhyay, is also a classical vocalist. He finishes his early education in Jadavpur Vidhyapith and received his diploma from Asutosh College, which is affiliated with the University of Calcutta. In the 1990s, Srijato began his writing career. He and his wife Durba presently reside in Selimpur, a part of southern Kolkata. He used to be a journalist and is on the editorial board of the publication Prathma. Chotoder Chiriyakhana: The Menagerie for Kids (2005), Katiushar Gupo: Tales Untold (2006), Borshamongal: The Monsoon Epic (2006), Okalboisakhi: Storms Unprecendent (2007), and Borshamongol: The Monsoon Epic (2006) are some of his well-known works.
