Mrinmoy Nandi is a cinematographer and director based in Kolkata, West Bengal. He went to Jagadbandhu Institution for his schooling. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Science from the University of Calcutta and later got interested in filmmaking. He started theatre with the Bengali play CARE KORI NAA in 1994 in Kolkata. Then, he studied at Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute and earned a post-graduation Diploma in Cinema & Motion Picture Photography, Television & any kind of electronic audio-visual. He is currently working as a filmmaker at the Kaahon Kommunications since 2014.
His body of work includes Ananta (2022), Mahalaya (2019), Jhumura (2015), the short film Flickering Angels (2012), the short film This Summer in Waiting (2019), Barood (2015) and the television series Utshobre Pore (2020). He has to his credit the screenplay of Piklu (2021) and Tabe Tai Hok (2012). The film Piklu, which was directed by him, was selected for Siliguri Short & Documentary Film Festival 2020 and also won an Audience Choice Award at the Tagore International Film Festival 2020.
