Clearly coming from a house of these many talented artists, Birsa had already made up his mind in his childhood that he will pursue filmmaking as well.

Growing up, Birsa was fascinated with filmmaking, and would always be trying to learn the use of cameras from his father, he used to shoot a lot of films and pictures in his spare time. It was during the middle of his graduation when he decided to drop out of college and pursue his passion. He moved to Mumbai in search of opportunities and started working for directors and filmmakers, assisting them in making movies. He also assisted a few times in the TV industry for TV soap operas. After his stint as an assistant, Birsa started to make fillers and promos for MidDay, a morning newspaper agency which publishes in Mumbai, Pune and a few other cities.

This is when Birsa first came into the spotlight. Soon after his music video, Birsa returned to Kolkata and started making Bengali movies. He started out making TV movies first, some of the classics movies he made are Ekti Romharshak Dakatir Golpo(this movie was even nominated for an International film festival) and K. In 2009, he made his directorial debut on the silver screen with 033, a thought-provoking film about the migration of Bengali youth outside of Kolkata. Birsa went on to direct over 10 films and a TV series along the way.
