Anshuman Chakraborty is an Indian director who works predominantly in the Bengali film industry. He has been involved in the audio and visual industry for over a decade since he started his career while pursuing his graduation course. Anshuman started in the field by working as an episode director and script and screenplay writer. He created a hundred episodes of different and varied subject matters. Following the teaching and guidance of the famous film theorist and pioneer Father Gaston Roberge, Anshuman undertook a course on film-making in Chitrabani, one of the oldest media training institutes in India. Anshuman later joined E. TV Network as one of their Executive Producers. Thereupon he started a career for himself as Script and Screenplay Writer and Director. His first venture as an independent Director was the fictional movie Mind-Movement-Motion which was based on real-life people.
The movie was critically acclaimed and was even selected and promoted widely. The next movie he worked on was Lakshya, another fictional movie. This too was critically acclaimed and was selected to be screened as the only regional entry in a short film competition by Filmy Sahara. As a director, Anshuman worked with Ei Taxi; And They Named Me…Kaal Ratri; The Another Character; Homecoming; Lock Down; The Motherhood; Dreams of Freedom And…; Be A Leader; Life is Beautiful; Intelligent and many more. Ei Taxi was selected and screened at many film festivals some of which include the 11th Kolkata Short Film Festival, the 3rd Mumbai Short International Film Festival, the 5th Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival, and the 5th Bangalore International Short Film Festival. Anshuman won the award for Best Director-Jury at the 2nd Indian World Film Festival 2016 for Paradise Lost Children and was nominated for Best Director for The Another Character at the 4th Cine Premiere Indie Short Film Festival.
