Akram Khan Bio coming soon... >> Read More... is an Indian dancer and choreographer who worked for the Bengali film industry. He was born in Wimbledon, London, England. When he was seven, he started learning classical South Indian dance from Kathak. His first stage career begins with the Adventures of Mowgli tour which begins in 1984-1985 and produced by the Academy of Indian Dance which is presently known as the Academy of South Asian Dance. Dust which was a World War I theme ballet was his first-time choreography for a ballet company in 2014.
One of his popular performances was in the 2012 London Olympic ceremony where he and his mates danced. Akram received many awards through his hard work some of them includes The Critics Circle National Dance Awards in 2000, The International Movimentos Tanzpreis in 2004, The South Bank Show Award in 2005, Distinguished Artist Award 2011, The Age Critics Award in 2010, and many others. After the formation of Giselle, which was announced by The Manchester International Festival, Akram’s company became one of the foremost most innovative dance companies in the world. In the pandemic time, Khan always suggests his followers to maintain physical and mental health.
