Sasthipada Chattopadhyay is a Bengali novelist and a short story writer. He was born on 9th March 1941 in Howrah district, West Bengal. He has worked in the Dainik Basumati in 1961, where he published his first-ever work of literature titled Kamakhya Bhraman. Later he joined Anandvaxar Patrila under the guidance of Ramapada Chowdhary and Sagarmoy Ghosh. He was also a part of Indian Railway Services, posted at Ghatshila. He was passionate about exploring new places, which reflect in most of his stories.
Chattopadhyay has written many novels, travelogues, short stories but acquired recognition and fame only after writing Pandab Goenda, an adventurous detective fiction series meant for children. This written series; was later adapted to a visual form. It also had been telecasted in an animated form. His other Detective fiction includes Detective Ambar Chatterjee and Goenda Tatar, Goendar Tatar; was adapted as a film in 2019. In 2017, Sasthipada Chattopadhyay received the Bal Sahitya Puraskar by the Sahitya Akademi to contribute to literature for children in Bengali.
