Soumitra Basu, born in West Bengal, is a renowned actor. Apart from being a practitioner of the theatrical arts, he also engages in teaching it. Basu is a household name in Bengali theatre. He views 'physical acting' as dependent on the nature of the content, rebuking its current notion.
He primarily leads the Times of Theatre, conducting plays and imparting knowledge to next-generation enthusiasts through workshops. The play Tuntuni Lo Upendrakishore, was written by Ray Chowdhury, directed by Soumitra Basu & Atanu Chakraborty, and put up by the Times of Theatre.
