Kartik Chandra Paul, also known as K.C. Paul is a conspiracy theorist and identifies himself as a self-taught astronomer and scientist. He belongs to the city of Kolkata, West Bengal. He was born in a village called Anuliya in Howrah, West Bengal in the year 1942. He could not study much owing to the financial condition of his family. He later served in the Indian army for 15 years. He started as a constable in the army in 1962 during the Sino- Indian war. In the beginning, he was training at Fatehgarh in Uttar Pradesh and was later transferred to the Rajputana regiment. It was during his time in the army that he got interested in celestial bodies and astronomy. Over the days that followed, he relentlessly studied astronomy and the position of Venus, the Sun, and Earth. Eventually, his study made him come to the conclusion that it is the Sun that revolves around the Earth and not the Earth around the Sun.

He worked on his theory and wrote a paper that he himself got published on his own. His interview was also published in a Hindi daily – Amar Ujala. He also interviewed for some other newspaper and this was considered misconduct on his part. Hence he was dismissed from his duty in 1979. After returning, he made efforts to bring attention to his theories. He wrote several pamphlets, booklets, and books to prove his point. He became a bookseller and used to sell his own materials. In 1980 he got employed at the State Electricity Service, West Bengal, and retired after serving for 25 years. After that, he was surviving on his pension which he used to bring attention to his theory. In 2016, he was forced to live on the streets due to his financial downfall, as per some local newspapers.

While on the streets he still used to make pamphlets and posters and even paint graffiti on the street walls depicting the movement of the sun around the Earth. A number of articles and interviews have been published in various newspapers and magazines narrating his theory. A short film called Oblivion - The Life and World of K.C. Paul was also made on his life by the director Mayukh Ghosh Mayukh Ghosh is commonly known for Serious Men[202 >> Read More... and featured K.C. Paul himself. Another documentary titled The Geocentric Man is also in the pipeline that attempts to shed light on his life and his theory. K.C. Paul still believes in his cosmic theory and is determined to make everyone believe the same. He used to be a familiar sight at the Kolkata Book Fair. Now, he sells his works from the front porch of his home.
