She was born on 14 March in Chikmagalur. She has produced many films like Kaavaludaari, Crossroads, and Maya Bazar. She is a successful Kannada producer. Her husband, Puneeth, met her through some common friends in 1996. After Being 'friends' for eight months, he proposed to her. She readily agreed as she was also in love with him. While Puneeth's family was more than happy with the alliance, Ashwini's family couldn't believe it and were reluctant to accept the proposal. After six months, they too were convinced, and Puneeth got married to Ashwini. They got married on 1st Dec 1999 and have two daughters: Drithi and Vandita.

Puneeth says, "My mother(Parvathamma Rajkumar) as producer and distributor backed so many films, and she did a great job; she stands as a pillar behind Vajeshwari combines. PRK was something that we started to make a different cinema style, and that is happening now. I wanted my wife to handle it, and I'm glad she is on board." Ashwini is Puneeth's style adviser too. Though Ashwini always keeps a low profile and is mainly known as a housewife, she manages her husband's wardrobe with a new style and fashion. Her hobbies are shopping and reading.

In 2021, Ashwini produced a couple of films, including Family Pack. Even before the films get completed, her husband cum co-producer of PRK Productions banner, Puneeth Rajkumar, the Powerstar of Kannada cinema, suffered a massive cardiac arrest and died on 29^th October 2021. He was just 46.
