Plot
A woman in Jharkhand was accused of theft and attacked brutally. When the attack reaches an intense level, the woman counterattacks them and escapes. The cops couldn’t find her for 15 years. As the local cops are unable to find the accused, the case is transferred to the CBCID. At the same time, Tamilnad CM V Arunachalam has been accused in a corruption case, and the case is nearing its verdict. Kottravai, an experienced journalist, has been supporting Arunachalam in this case. This didn’t go well with Arunachalam’s daughter, Amudhavalli, and his son-in-law, Hari, as they want to capture the throne if Arunachalam is expelled. What were the challenges faced by Kottravai in saving Arunachalam from the corruption charge? Was she successful? The rest of the series explains these.
Star Performance
Kishore excels in the role with his experienced performance. His chemistry with Sriya is fantastic. Sreya is famous for picking up different scripts. She delivers a mature performance. Adithya Menon is neat in his role. Bharath is just okay. Santhana Bharathi and Kani Kusruti are impressive with their performances. YGM’s performance is disappointing and he overacts in many places. Remya and Nirup didn’t perform their roles well.
Analysis
Vasantha Balan has made a new attempt with the political thriller. The initial couple of episodes are not interesting. However, the screenplay in the next episodes moves at a brisk pace and gives the audience a good watching experience. Though the main plot is finely narrated, the subplots are not completed and left in the mid-way. Though the series speaks about the political scenario, some logical loopholes make the audience question the authenticity of the storytelling. The BGM by Ghibran is decent. The visuals are neat, and the editing had to be sharp in a few episodes.

Verdict
Thalaimai Seyalagam has some good performances and a fine background score, making the audience travel with the story. If the director had cared for the screenplay a bit extra, it would have reached wider audience. However, Thalaimai Seyalagam is watchable once!
