Uppum Mulakum showcases the daily lives of Shulamkudi Veetil Balachandran Thampi, aka Balu, his wife Neelima, aka Neelu, and their five children, Vishnu, Lakshmi, Keshav, Shivani, and Parvathy. Vishnu, the eldest of all, is a talented dancer who works in a bank. Lakshmi, the elder daughter, is married to Siddharth. Now, she has a daughter, Kallu. Keshav and Shivani are college-going children, and the last one, Parvathy, is a school-going kid. Neelima gets promoted as a manager. Balu and Neelu celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary in grandeur. Meanwhile, Sreekuttan, Neelu’s brother, calls her over the phone and informs her that he will return to India soon. He shocks her by delivering the information about his marriage and child.
