Malayalam Web Series Nagendran's Honeymoons

Nagendran’s Honeymoons is produced, scripted and directed by Nithin Renji Panicker. Nikhil S Praveen cranked the camera, and Mansoor Muthootty edited the series. Ranjin Raj composed the BGM. The series features Suraj Venjaramoodu, Alexander Prasanth, Kalabhavan Shajon, Alphy Panjikaran, Grace Antony, Shwetha Menon, Niranjana Anoop, Kani Kusruti, Ammu Abhirami, Bhanumathi, “Janardhanan,” Ramesh Pisharody, Sreejith Ravi, Sreekanth Murali, Shaalin Zoya, Reshmi Boban, Sreeram Ramachandran, Shanker Induchoodan, Aristo Suresh, Priyanka Anoop, and “Appukutty.”

Plot

Nagendran belongs to Vellayani in Trivandrum. He is an unemployed person who wants to go abroad. His mother thought that if he got married, he would shed his laziness and work hard at least for his wife. Nagendran’s friend suggested that if he gets married, he can travel abroad with the dowry received. However, Nagendran didn’t stop with one marriage. He continued marrying women from different religions, as his first marriage didn’t provide him dowry to go abroad. What happened to his marriages? Were all those women accepted him? The rest of the story speaks about his life and his final decision.

Star Performance

Suraj Venjaramoodu is an excellent performer. Though it is a silent role or a talkative role, this guy impresses the audience with his natural performance. Suraj stood truthful to this character in this series. The rest of the stars did justice to the given roles.

Analysis

The plot appears to be silly, when we hear it from someone. But, when we watch it in Suraj’s performance, we enjoy it thoroughly. We have seen him showcasing different roles; whether it is Jana Gana Mana, “Grrr,” or Driving License, he always steadies his character despite the biggies with whom he shares the screen space. The narrative should have been a bit more quick-paced. Ranjin’s BGM is quite decent. The visuals are neat and the editing should have been a bit crisper.

Verdict

Despite a few minus points, the series tries to impress the audience with its narration and performance. If you like Suraj’s mature performance, you’ll like this series.
