Amrita Film Awards is a very reputed and fascinating award show held to celebrate and applaud the hard work that the Malayalam Film industry puts into churning out movies with good content as well as with commercial value. The awards value both, the creative as well as technical people associated with the film industry and awards people from more than 25 categories. In its 10th year, on 20th December 2014, Amrita Film Awards,2014 was held with the same glitz and grandeur that it is celebrated every year. This year the show was hosted by famous anchor Remaining Haridas and best-known comedian Rajesh Pisharadi. Best Actor award was won, thrice in a row, this time by veteran thespian Mohanlal for his role as a father in Drishyam and Best Actress role was won by Amala Paul.

Director Jithu Joseph was declared the Best Director while Asha Sharad and Murali Gopi both, shared the Best Scriptwriter Award. Gopi Sunder won the Best Music Director award. Actor Jayasurya was adjourned the Best Popular Actor. Best Singer in Male and Female category was won by Najim Arshad Born on 8th June, 1986 to parents Thirumala Shahul >> Read More... and Mrudula Warrier respectively. The Lifetime Achievement Award as awarded to Sheela for her immense contribution to the Malayalam film Industry. Apart from rewarding the experienced, the awards show also celebrate the talent of younger and brighter actors and actresses.

New Face Of The Year award was pocketed by Dhyan Chand and Aparna Gaikwad in the Male and Female category respectively. Further, comedian Suraj Venjaranmoodu and his team added the much-needed laughing factor and entertained the audience with their funny short skits and antics. The award show was attended by several eminent personalities of the Malayalam Film industry and also people from various walks of life. The function saw more than 25000 people in attendance the entries for which was given by pass. The awards show also had several Kollywood and Bollywood artists entertaining the audience by tapping their feet to many hit songs. The night is truly a night of celebration of talent and the acknowledgment of the love the industry receives from its people.
