Olithu Madu Manushya is a Kannada TV show that airs on the channel Saral Jeevan from Monday to Friday at 11:25 am, 5:25 pm, and 7:25 pm. On Saturday and Sunday, it airs at 9 pm. The tag line of the show is “Joy of giving”. Olithu Madu Manushya is an interactive program in which a channel reporter meets people in public places. He speaks to street vendors, cobblers, road-side barbers, poor old people, kids who work to make a living, and any underprivileged people, who are oblivious to the fact that it is a TV show. Their conversation is shot with hidden cameras.
The reporter casually walks up to them to buy their goods and services. He picks up a conversation with them, asking them about the number of sales they made that day, their situation at home, how long they need to work before they could rest, how long they have been in that profession, and other related questions. After the conversation is done, he provides them with food, blankets, money, or anything the reporter believes they need. Their reaction to the stranger’s help is shot. The show inspires its viewers to help the underprivileged with whatever they can by showing them the adversities of the underprivileged people and the happiness on their faces when they see kindness.
