Yajamani is a Kannada language TV serial that airs on the channel Star Suvarna from Monday to Friday at 1:30 pm. It started on 12 August 2019 and stopped in April 2020 due to the lockdown. The lead characters of the serial are Punya and Akash Suryavamshi, who were initially played by Sanatani and Rakshith Gowda Rakshith Gowda is an actor in the Indian film Indu >> Read More... , respectively, who were replaced by Sharmila Chandrashekhar and Prashanth Baradwaj. Punya is a middle-class woman who took up multiple jobs to take care of her family and marry her sisters Spoorthy and Supriya. They were in debt to a man named Bhagwan, who threatens to seize their house if Punya doesn’t repay the debt in the given time.

After struggling for many days, she manages to pay him back. Punya finds another job in a huge company. Akash is a rich businessman who just arrives in India. He wants to buy Punya’s house. Punya gets into an argument with him, oblivious to the fact that he is the chairman of the company that she is working at. Akash gives a lot of trouble to Punya, but she always comes out of it successfully. One day he sees her with another man, Vikas, and questions her character and fires her. Punya worries about her father’s surgery. Her father decides to sell their house to Bhagwan. After exhausting every option, Punya’s heart breaks to watch their furniture being taken out. Akash tries to help them but fails.

Punya’s family arranges her wedding with a man named Vikas, but Spoothy and Vikas are in a relationship. Punya repeatedly says that she doesn’t like the wedding, but no one listened to her. Spoorthy and Vikas announce their relationship to Spoorthy’s parents, but they decide to hide it from Punya. Spoorthy and Vikas plan to run away but stop when Vikas realises she’s a gold-digger and breaks up with her. Akash repeatedly tells Punya not to marry Vikas, but she bows her head down at her family’s request. On the day of the wedding, Spoorthy attempts suicide, and Punya is shocked after learning the reason. The wedding gets cancelled, and Spoorthy and Vikas get married instead. Punya leaves the house. Akash persuades her to follow her dream of becoming a singer. She does so and meets a music producer named Siddharth, who becomes a good friend to her. Akash gets jealous of her relationship with Siddharth. Punya becomes a great singer, and Akash hosts a success party for her, where they both share a moment. Slowly Punya starts developing feelings for Akash, and he tries and fails many times at confessing his love for her.
