Casting Directors in Bollywood were a new concept couple of years ago. But now, every production house has space to accommodate the Casting Directors. And these Directors have assistants for themselves to help them carry out the hustling task of going through hundreds of profiles. Shruti Mahajan, a Jaipur bred Casting Director is relatively new to this arena. Shruti has around two and a half years invested in the industry and has already been applauded for her work by many. 
It was Sameer Sharma who was convinced that Shruti needed to be in the Bollywood industry somehow and saw something in her. He later gave her first Yash Raj opportunity in YRF itself as an Assistant Casting Director. Shruti had a contract of one year with YRF and had already got the taste of Bollywood, and her knack to cast the spot on faces grew tremendously. Married to Cinematographer Sachin Krishn, Shruti turned a new leaf and got acquainted with the eat-breathe-live cinema lifestyle. She successfully holds her own Casting agency today. 
From Jaipur to Mumbai, being a Casting Director was not something that was planned and executed for this young woman. Shruti reckons the times where she was expected to be like any other girl- to have a degree and a morning till evening job at a big MNC. She did, however, did her part of getting a degree (MBA) and was working for an MNC until Bollywood came calling. 
This light-hearted woman shares her working experience with big names like Sanjay Leela Bhansali. She has the credit of three films for Bhansali Productions so far, and unquestionably it has enriched her experience in the field. Ramleela, Mary Com, and Baaji Rao Mastaani are the three prominent movies which helped Shruti grow to great heights in her career. BaajiRao Mastaani being Magnum Opus of Bhansali, Shruti considers herself blessed to have gotten the opportunity. She was hesitant in the beginning to work for Bhansali as the level of expectation is always high, but she was able to do a fantastic job with the casting for the film. She believes it is not just about the three protagonists Ranbir, Deepika, and Priyanka but getting each supporting actor for the movie was vital, and it accounts for the wholeness and perfection of the movie. She says it is so very important to have right cast as some directors ask for a perfect actor for a particular role. 
Shruti has around fifteen movies for her long list of successful ventures. In a short time of just two and a half years, Shruti has certainly made a name for herself. Casting Priyanka for Mary Com and Jai Gangajal took a lot of visionary efforts by Shruti. To be able to envision the actor for a certain role, given by the Director, and then going with guts needs experience and moreover needs that kind of talent. Shruti not only depends on a screen test of an actor but depends hugely on her gut feeling and intuition. She says that her intuition works beyond all the auditions and screen tests. 
When asked about working with various directors, Shruti says she loves her job, but it also involves a lot of thought process and understanding a director’s way of thinking. To be able to catch a director’s vision and his/her expectation from the character is a skill to possess and Shruti seems to have got that. She started out with Chkravyuh and Satyagrah with Prakash Jha and went on to cast for his later movie Jai Gangajal. The funny cast of Finding Fanny was her doing, and so was Shamitabh, which obviously has Amitabh Bachan in it and also a new face of Akshara Hassan in it. Her latest installment was Sarbjit which has Aishwarya, Randeep Hooda and Richa Chadda in it, giving a powerhouse performance. 
Addressing issues about the role of Casting Director in a movie, Shruti says that there is only so much you can do as a CD. One can only suggest and find a fresh face and discuss them with the director. She can, up to the maximum influence her opinions about an actor to the Director, the final call is the Director. She ultimately has to respect what a Director needs. Shruti enjoys her work to the fullest and like every other CD, she too wishes to launch fresh faces into the industry as she says it her small way of contributing to the world of Cinema. 

Vibha Sharma is a well-known Indian pop star in the early 1990s. She made her debut album Mehandi in 2000, where the title track “Mehendi Lagaoongi Main”was a superhit. She was born on 15th January 1985 and was brought up by Hindu Punjabi – Kashmir Pandit family.She pursued her education at London University where she did B.Sc(honors). Elahe Hiptoola is an Indian film actress, costume designer and producer. She was born in Mumbai but raised up in Hyderabad since she was two months old. She studied at Nasr School in Hyderabad, St Francis and later attended Law at Government Law College in Mumbai. Elahe has learnt piano, kathak and horseback riding. She got married to Vidyut Jaisimha, the son of the cricketer M.L. Jaisimha; but their marriage lasted for two and a half years only.

She worked with Kukunoor in films like Hyderabad Blues, 3 Deewarein, Rockford 3, Bollywood Calling, Hyderabad Blues 2, Dor, Iqbal, and Bombay to Bangkok, 8x10 Tasveer, Aashayein, Rockford, Mod, Three Walls, Dhanak and Lakshmi. Out of all the movies, only the 8x10 Tasveer is the film she didn’t produce, because she was busy with Aashayein at that time, but she says, she’s a hands-on producer and also an assistant director to Kukunoor. 

In year 2010, Elahe started Lamakaan, a non-profit open cultural center in Hyderabad, which aims to provide space for several events like arts, theater, literature, music, debates, etc. She also felt that the city needs a center where the youth can express their opinions. 

Elahe has been in and out of the country for the promotions of her films. She finds filmmaking an opportunity to connect with new people. She thanked the industry for leading her to know Husain Saab, who taught her Urdu poetry and Rannvijay Singh, whom she considers as her son. During college, her parents told her that she has to be on her own and she started working to meet her expenses. She worked with Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla in a Mumbai boutique.

Bollywood actress Nimrat Kaur was born on 13th March 1982 in Pilani, Rajasthan, as the daughter of an Indian Army officer. She spent her early childhood hopping from cities to cities due to her father’s job until she lost her father to a terrorist attack in Kashmir in 1994. Her family moved to Delhi after her father’s death and she completed her schooling and college in Delhi itself.

Sonal Jha, the Indian film actress, and theater artist, belongs to Bihar, Patna. She did various Hindi serials and theater for long. She also appeared in few films in supporting role. Sonal is a well known Television artist and was also seen in few serials of Malayalam and Bihar. Sonal Jha was born in Bihar, Patna and was related to theater from her childhood only. Karan Marawala is an Indian film director. He was born on 22nd November 1993. His hometown is Hyderabad, and he now lives in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India; he speaks many languages, including Hindi, English, Telugu, and Tamil. In addition, he completed a BA in Business Economics from the University of Exeter and an MA in Filmmaking from MET film School (2015 to 2016). Further, he has experience as a Trainer teacher at Oakridge International School. He had done this work for two months; in that, he helped the students with learning difficulties and taught class leadership for Junior school.

Swapnil Rane is a creative director and publicity designer who has designed more than 300 posters for Bollywood films and web shows. He specializes in advertising, photography, editing, and software like Corel Draw, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and 3D Studio Max. Rane completed his high school from I.E.S Bandra, and then pursued graduation from L.S Raheja School of Art – Worli in Bachelor of Applied Arts, Commercial and Advertising Art in 2004. Soumik Mukherjee is a motion picture and and film professional in the Hindi film industry. He is a Mumbai-based freelance cinematographer who has worked for several Hindi movies, short films, feature films, and  and web series. Mukherjee completed his graduation in Mass Communication and  Videography from St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata, in 2005. He then pursued his post-graduation diploma in cinematography from the Film and  Television Institute of India, Pune. He worked as an assistant director for Filmshop, Kolkata, from 2003 to 2006. Soumik has worked as a cinematographer in the famous Bollywood movie ‘Thappad’ that released in the theatres on 28^th February 2020. ‘Tapsee Pannu’ starrer ‘Thappad’ is a drama film directed by ‘Anubhav Sinha’ and co-produced by ‘Bhushan Kumar’s’ T-Series. He also worked as a cinematographer in the ‘John Abraham' starrer ‘Batla House’ which released on 15^th August 2019. The action thriller film was directed by ‘Nikhil Advani’ and jointly produced by T-Series, Emmay Entertainment, John Abraham Entertainment, and Bake My Cake Films. It is based on the 2008 Batla House encounter case.

Sreyas Nair is a photographer and cinematographer in the Indian Film Industry. He also has experience working in the visual effects department. He belongs to Mumbai, Maharashtra.
