) and Jai's wife is Natasha (played by Resham Tipnis). The sons can't stand the power of their mother and the control she has over them, and they plot to kill her and split her fortune. Karishma attends a ceremony in her honor and in honor of her life achievements, and an assassin tries to kill her, but she survives with only a scratch on her arm. The story goes back and forth showing different periods of Karishma's life, spanning over three generations. The series was well accepted by the TV audience in India mostly because of the real story-line of the woman determined to achieve her goals in life, her courage, her strength, sacrifice and hard work while climbing the ladder of success.
