. The film's musical director was Hemanta Mukherjee. Sheba Mitra comes to a hill town, Nijhumgarh, to be a governess to the little girl Ranu. Shankar Roy, the owner of the most haunted bungalow called Raykuthi. Ranu is her only child. Sheba learned that everything became mysterious around her. She tried to find out the history of the bungalow and the inhabitants and started an investigation in secret. The family's old friend, Dr. Choudhury, and Shankar's cousin, Satyabhusan, were very close to the family.
Sheba suddenly learned that two murders had occurred there almost seven years earlier. She has seen mysterious incidents happen. A lady like Shankar's deceased wife sings and walks in the jungle every night to attract the girl child and her father, Shankar. Now Sheba could only pray for him to go away, for the incidents transcend the rules of our physical world. He revealed that the main culprit is a very close and trustworthy family member.
