Sharmila Tagore is a Bengali actress, who later shifted to the Hindi film industry, who was born on 8th December, 1944. Apart from being an actress, she stood as a member of Indian Film Censor Board for seven years. She was also chosen as UNICEF Goodwill ambassador from India. On the other hand, she was one of the jury members of Cannes Film Festival, 2009. She was recognized by the Government of India with the third highest civilian award of India, Padma Bhushan. She was familiar with her screen name Begum Ayesha Sultana. She is related to Rabindranath Tagore from her parental ancestors.
