Tamil Pesum Kadhanayagi is a Tamil language TV show that aired on the channel Raj TV in the year 2011 during the weekends. It was hosted by anchors Balaji and Shilpa. As the name implies, Tamil Pesum Kadhanayagi was a show for Tamil Speaking Heroines. In a lot of movies, the lip movements of the actresses didn’t match the dialogues. Dubbing was given by the local artists. To change this, Raj TV, H20 and Galatta Media introduced Tamil Pesum Kadhanayagi. Tamil Pesum Kadhanayagi was a reality show for women who were aspiring to be actresses. The show had six rounds. In the first round, auditions were arranged in the cities Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Madurai, Cochin, Malaysia, and Singapore. The judges selected a total of 90 Tamil speaking girls from these cities. In the second round, they were involved in a workshop arranged by renowned theatre groups. Based on the talent they have displayed in those workshops, forty contestants were selected for the next round. The third round involved dance skills.

The contestants showcased their talents in dance, and the judges selected the ones they liked and eliminated ten contestants. The fourth round involved an exclusive training camp, in which the remaining 30 contestants were trained for what is required to be a successful actress. 20 of them were selected to go to Malaysia for the fifth round. Another vigorous training session took place in Malaysia with teachers who have techniques other than what was taught in India. Only five of those twenty contestants were picked for the finals, which involved live stage performances in various aspects. The winner of the show was announced in this round.
