Pradhana Vizha is one of the most prestigious award ceremonies for television. The award ceremony was introduced in 1996 to felicitate talented Tamil artists from both Singapore as well as Indian. Since then the award ceremony has gone ahead to become one of the most prestigious award functions for Tamil artists and many look forward to the end of the year which is usually when Pradhana Vizha takes place. The award ceremony has always been held in Singapore and has been produced by Mediacorp's which is a huge organization. It was one of the most grandeur nights of Tamil television and many popular and renowned artists came to attend it. The award took place on the 17th of September. In addition to all the 28 awards, the 15th edition saw the inclusion of the Lifetime Achievement award which is felicitated to an artist who has done exceptional work on television for a large period.
It also included a live red carpet section in which celebrities going in the venue are interviewed regarding the award night. The award ceremony takes place every two years which is another reason behind its crazy following.
