Aadhya Anand is the narrator of the story as well.  Bombay Begum depicts the reality of the urban career women in metro cities like Mumbai. Intending to achieve all the goals, a woman has to face a thorny path with foreseen challenges, one of which is a patriarchal society. The leading ladies of this story are Rani (played by Pooja Bhatt), Fatima (played by Shahana Goswami), Ayesha (played by Plabita Borthakur), Lily (played by Amruta Subhash), and Shai (played by Aadhya Anand). Rani, Fatima, and Ayesha work in the Royal Bank of Bombay as the newly appointed CEO, Deputy CEO, and a simple employee, respectively. Lily is a former bar dancer and sex worker, whereas Shai is Rani's stepdaughter.

Each character has flaws, strengths, and a journey filled with challenges and uncommon means to overcome them.Rani had a path filled with challenges and obstacles to survive in the patriarchal corporate world. Her dedication, perseverance, and hard work got her the position of CEO. Post her promotion, we can see that she can go to any length to resolve issues and take the law into her own hands. Fatima is a married woman with a husband who is insecure about her job position. Although she may be more successful, she submits to her husband and faces the consequences. Shai is traumatized by the constant memories of her dead mother and denies to accept Rani in her life and family. Lily is an aggressive sex worker whose world revolves around her son. She wishes to give him a good education and keep him away from the darkness of her profession. Due to the social stigma about her work, she doesn't get successful in creating the necessary environment for him. Bombay Begums is the story of each woman struggling to make her career in an urban city, with the society, her family, her kids, and the patriarchal stereotypes. The screenplay and casting are praise-worthy, but the story is not moving or empowering. It just showcases the hollowness after the absence of a woman's desire in society.
