in the lead roles. Due to the monochromatic backdrop, realistic story, and other technical aspects, the show received positive criticism from the critics and audience.
The story is of Vaibhav Pandey (played by Mayur More), an IIT aspirant who left his hometown, Itarsi, and came to Kota for IIT-JEE coaching. The first season shows how he got admission to Prodigy classes, his friendship with his co-members of the homestay, Meena (played by Ranjan Raj) and Uday (played by Alam Khan), the struggles of an IIT-JEE aspirant, the introduction of Vaibhav to the concept of teenage love with entry of Vartika (played by Revathi Pillai), friend of Shivangi (Uday's girlfriend played by Ahsaas Channa), and the rat race of competitive exam preparations. Jeetu Bhaiya (played by Jitendra Kumar), a physics teacher popular among students and faculties of Prodigy classes who teaches concepts using live examples, was also introduced in this season. Towards the end of the season, Vaibhav realizes that he gets selected for Maheshwari Classes, one of the elite coaching centers of Kota, which had rejected Vaibhav initially. After much deliberation and discussions with his friends, he joins Maheshwari Classes.
Season 2 shows Vaibhav's life in Maheshwari classes along with his new friend Sushrut, the challenges he faced there, how he got solutions to them, and how he juggled his new life and old friends. This season has also focussed on the other characters, like Meena's changing hormonal balance and interests, Jeetu Bhaiya leaving Prodigy classes and starting up his coaching classes, his struggles, and the friendship between Vaibhav, Meena, Uday, Shivangi, Vartika, Sushrut, and Meenal (played by Urvi Singh). Kota Factory's success was due to its relatability, simplicity, and usage of simple situations and dialogues. Though it didn't showcase the rat race competition and students' turmoil in a broader light, it did give an idea of why Kota is becoming Kota Factory.
