Ishti Kutum is a Bengali family drama-comedy TV series on Star Jalsha that premiered on 24 October 2011 and ended on 13 December 2015. It aired every week from Monday to Saturday at 6:30 PM. The show revolves around the life of an 18-year-old tribal child, Bahamoni Soren, from a secluded region in rural West Bengal. She was a star kid who completed her 10th standard with flying colors and wanted to attend college. But, the locals force her to marry a journalist from Kolkata, Archisman Mukherjee, when she spends a night in his room during a stormy night.
After the Bidaai, they refuse to accept the marriage and do not acknowledge it. They go to the city, and Baha finds out that Archi is engaged to his girlfriend, Kamalika. What happens after that forms the central part of the story. There is only one season with 1332 episodes, and each is 20-24 minutes long. Magic Moments Motion Pictures is the production company behind the show.
Leena Gangopadhyay was the writer and creative director, and Saibal Banerjee was the producer and director with Sujit Pyne.
Siddhartha Mukherjee set up the cinematography for the drama series. Dhitang Tuli Tala was the opening theme.
Sumit Kumar Roy, Satyajit Chakraborty, Kastuvi Ghosh, and Sriya Basu were the executive producers of the romance series. West Bengal was the production location. Actors like Raneeita Dash, Rishi Kaushik, and Ankita Chakraborty played the main characters. Goutam De, Tanuka Chatterjee, Santu Mukherjee, Saswati Guha Thakurta, Arindam Sil, and more played recurring characters. While the Bengali version is the original, there are remakes in other languages like Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, and Tamil.
