It has become a trend to make horror movies nowadays. The recent horror film Demonte Colony was successful. Now, Strawberry should surely be appreciated for its strong message.

Plot: What is the main plot of horror flicks? Yes.. you guessed it’s revenge. This movie has also dealt with this subject. As negative as this seems, the film, in its steady pace, tries to bring a strong message; protection of school kids.

The film is a real life happening and actors Samuthirakani and Devayani portray the character of devastated parents, who lose their young daughter Yuvina Parthavi, due to the inattention of a school, which should be responsible. Well, here who is Pa Vijay? Who is Jo Malluri? What is the importance of their character? How horror is interspersed with a social message? This forms the essence of the story.

Samuthirakani shows commendable performance (nowadays he shows elevated performance as character artiste) and Devayani, who is a seasoned actress, has lived up to the expectations. In fact, they live the lives of struggling parents. Jo Malluri has also acted well. Pa Vijay is quite ok as a lead actor and just does what is required of him, without much ado. Yuvina Parthavi has acted brilliantly and she steals the show. Avni Modi is not a bad choice; she does her job well. Robo Shankar, Thambi Ramaiah and Imman Annachi have managed to tickle one’s humorous bones.

Music is composed by Taj Noor and a couple of songs are good in the movie. The lyrics of Pa Vijay also scores well, but importance could have been given to the screenplay as well.

The movie surely has a strong message, but how it is delivered is something to think about. Screenplay turns unruly at places, but it also keeps the viewer clutched to his seat in other places. Graphics could have been executed well since this is the age of outstanding graphics and the audience would surely expect more.

Verdict: A social issue is emphasized in the film and it deserves special mention for that. But it could have been shown in a more gripping way, with horror as the main theme. All the same, every parent should see this film for its strong message.
