Plot
The story revolves around Lakshman, aka Lucky, who loves a girl, Khushi. However, she develops second thoughts on seeing the photo of a beautiful girl in his wallet. Lakshman decides to come clean and narrate the tale of his unrequited love for Dilruba, aka Dil, and how he ended up without her.
Star Performances
Tanish has done a decent job as the lovelorn lucky. Despite the mismatch in her dubbing, Niti Taylor has made a sincere attempt with whatever she was offered.
Apart from the two, Madalasa and K Bhagyaraj have also done justice to their respective roles. The presence of K Bhagyaraj adds a certain charm to this film.
Analysis
Romantic stories are one of the favorite choices of Indian filmmakers. But what of those stories, which didn’t get the classic happy ending? Director Trinadha Rao Nakkina with his team of writers decides to take this journey with ‘Neeyum Naanum Nilavum Vaanum.’
To begin with, the director brings in the innocence of old-school romance. The first half gives you a promise of a fresh concept. The second half, however, is a different story. Choppy editing, followed by a confused narrative, ruins the stage set for an epic romance set in the first half. The humor infused doesn’t help much either.
However, nothing is more irritating than the person chosen for the local dubbing of Niti Taylor, which looked completely out of place. Even the sequences that appear just before the climax do not synchronize with the script, and look forced. The concept of inter-faith love could have been used with finesse. However, the makers chose otherwise.
In terms of acting, the performances range between decent to underwhelming. Tanish is decent in his performance of Lucky. K Bhagyaraj does his best to make this film watchable. Madalasa Sharma, Rama Prabha, and Kashi Vishwanath are just about okay.

Verdict
‘Neeyum Naanum Nilavum Vaanum’ is an innovative concept that could’ve gone places. However, writer cum director Trinadha Rao Nakkina had other ideas in mind. Yet, efforts from Tanish, Niti Taylor and K Bhagyaraj somehow make this a watchable affair. It is best as a one-time watch.
