Star Performances
The only good thing about this film is the performance of the main star cast.
Irrespective of the flaws in the narrative, at least the artists associated with this film have tried their best to make up for the mess.
Analysis
Many films surprise the viewers with the amount of research done for the project. Some films are made for cash grabs, but at least have basic entertainment. Then come films like ‘Vey Dharuvey’, which are good on paper, but are bad in terms of execution.
Irrespective of whatever was shown on screen, the makers had a good intention: revealing the dark side of documentation. Had they invested a little in some proper screenplay, this film would have been both an eye-opener and a commercial jackpot for the makers.
Sadly, that wasn’t to be. ‘Vey Dharuvey’ failed because of just one thing: lack of enthusiasm. Writer cum director Naveen Reddy D was just not interested in making a proper project, that had some kind of base in reason or logic. The film’s narrative suffers from a serious identity crisis. Even if it was just a mindless commercial potboiler, the audiences would have been satisfied that at least the makers were somewhat honest about it.
To make matters worse, the editing is also subpar. Despite the film being only 2 hours and 7 minutes long, many sequences make it feel like an endless drag. Some sequences are repetitive, while some are best left forgotten.
The only redeeming quality of this film is the acting performance of the star cast. Despite the botched narrative, the actors did their best to look convincing. Sunil and Posani Krishna Murali deserved better screen time.

Verdict
‘Vey Dharuvey’ could have been an unconventional success if the makers had just stuck to the basics. However, poor editing, unimpressive visuals, and an undercooked screenplay ruined it all. The only good thing about this entire project is the efforts of the acting crew, who did their level best to make the film salvageable.
