Plot
The film deals with bizarre characters that are interlinked with each other due to a particular incident. As the title suggests, the film is about Chennai and the happenings in the city. A rough Chennai guy, who has no permanent job is very much caring the society. He is in love with an interviewer (well settled), without any idea about his future. A soft village guy, who gets a job in Chennai, comes to the city just for the society that respects the city people. But, he prefers to be in his hometown. A taxi driver comes to the city to make money for his sick son. The rough youth, a soft natured village guy and the taxi driver get caught in a life threatening circumstance. What is the situation? Did they escape from the cruel cops and goons? Watch the film in theaters.
Star Performance
Charle has always excelled well in his role, whether it is comical or serious. Maanagaram might be another milestone for this incredible star. Sundeep might get a good break in Tollywood with Maanagaram after his previous film with Nithya Menen Okka Ammayi Thappa failed to impress. Regina and Shri had performed neatly. Ramdoss alias Munishkanth needs a special mention.
Analysis
Being a debutant, Lokesh Kanagaraj didn’t make us feel bored but keeps us engaged from the first reel to the final. His story selection and direction show that he has experience hands. Good effort Lokesh!
