Merlin is a Tamil language film directed by Keera and features Vishnupriyan, Powerstar, Sreenivasan, Jeevan and Manobala as lead characters.

Plot

An upcoming director wants to concentrate on the script that he is working on and wants to make a name. But he never gets any peace because he lives with a roomful of roommates who are so loud and brash all the time that he cannot concentrate on his work. So he comes up with a story of a ghost, who is an actress and haunts their place. The spirit soon comes to life and has an eerie resemblance to Marilyn Monroe Marilyn is commonly known to us as the actress who >> Read More... . It turns their life upside down and instead of this apparition helping the director; it distracts him more than ever. He loses all his focus and is not able to complete his script, thereby unable to fulfill his dreams of becoming a successful writer. Does the ghost leave them alone in peace?

Analysis

This film is a joke in itself. The movie opens with a set that takes place in the mid-1960s. It shocks everyone when that turns out to be the entire basis of the film as it would have earned some points by being a period horror film. But it disappoints us in all respects. The film has nothing new or creative about it. The director thought that making a Marilyn Monroe ghost, who is a sex symbol across the globe, will attract viewers. Had he given a little more time into planning and executing, he would not have needed to dress the ghost in skimpy clothes and make sexual innuendos. The cinematography is not good neither is the screenplay. The editing is the worst of all the features of this film.

Star Performance

The movie has some experienced actors like Vishnupriyan, Powerstar, Sreenivasan, Jeevan, and Manobala. And despite the star-studded cast, the film is a major flop. Instead of generating scares in the audience, it leaves them in splits over the scenes which are meant to scare.
