The film revolves around Thiru (Arjun Das), a food delivery person in Chennai. He suffers from obsessive-compulsive disorder (frequent thoughts) and desires to kill almost everyone he meets daily. Even though he works like a machine throughout the day, he is often insulted and mistreated by those who place food orders.
One day, he goes to deliver food to a rich house, where he meets Subbu (Dushara Vijayan), the housekeeper. The house owner is a rude woman named Mangayarkarasi (Shantha Dhananjayan). The woman’s son Ajee (Arjun Chidambaram) and daughter Anitha (Vanitha Vijayakumar) reside abroad. Subbu is treated like a slave in this house. Thiru falls in love with Subbu. But soon, things turn dark for both of them. Houseowner dies suddenly, and both of them get trapped in this issue. Their trouble worsens when the old woman’s family returns from abroad.
What will happen to Thiru and Subbu? Will the family blame them for her death? Did Thiru kill the old woman due to his OCD?
Arjun Das gave an outstanding performance. Like his previous films Vikram and Kaithi, he shines in Aneethi too. His dialogue delivery and expressions add depth to the film. He perfectly depicts a range of emotions throughout the film and brilliantly portrays his psychological condition. He also makes the viewers emotional in some scenes. With his natural and realistic performance, Arjun proves he can be an asset to the Tamil film industry.
Dushara Vijayan gave a real performance. She looks innocent on screen. The viewers find her struggle and nervousness very relatable. She adds realism to this film. Her performance in the police station scene is very impressive. Kaali Venkat looks decent on the screen. He executed the role of Arjun’s father perfectly. T. Siva, Shantha Dhananjayan, and Vanitha Vijayakumar did everything required.
The film’s story is unique, and most of the scenes add a touch of realism. In most movies, the character with a medical condition is introduced without any past story. But in this film, the flashback scenes in the second half make the film impressive and indicate the beginning of the climax. The opening scene, in which Arjun drags a bloodied garden spade, is gripping and creates interest among the viewers.
The film explores the dark side of humans and the exploitation faced by the poor. It highlights various social issues, such as the mistreatment of food delivery agents and police violence. The cast of this film gave a remarkable performance. The cinematography adds depth to the film’s thrilling atmosphere. The music and background score enrich the emotional elements.
However, after the interval, the scenes involving Aranthangi Nisha do not work well. The film becomes overdramatic after the introduction of Vanitha Vijayakumar and Arjun Chidambaram. The film’s pace is unstable.
