Vedham is a film about Sabarimala Darshan, a traditional picture in Kerala. A couple who is a devotee of lord Iyyapan prays to him for their baby. Blessed with a baby boy, the couple is happy, and it is about the boy’s journey on the earth.
Plot
The couple decides to name their child after lord Iyyapan as Sabari. Sabari who is an engineering graduate has never visited Sabarimala Iyyapan (A pilgrimage shrine in Kerala) which makes both his parents sad, and they decide to send their son to Sabarimala in one situation. Sabari who visits Sabarimala has a lot of adventure in his journey is the plot in this film.
Analysis
The story of a traditional born son who falls into the trap of adventure to gain his love is a new concept. A young boy who is lost in the forest finding his way back is the essence of the story plot. He has his gang of friends at the engineering college, and he is a technology geek who teases about traditional methods and beliefs. He enjoys his college life and loves a girl. He feels uncomfortable with his parent’s trust on lord, and is forced to visit Sabarimala as his parents believe that all his trouble would end if he pays due respect to the lord. He faces a lot of discomfort during his visit time. 42 days of strict routine agitates his anger, and finally, he reaches Sabarimala alone where other members warn him to stick around them as he is new. He is least bothered and continues his journey towards shrine during which he finds a companion and his grandson. He preaches about the Iyyapan’s devotion and good deeds which transforms Hero into a devotional person. He gets lost while on the journey, and loses his path in the forest. His parents who lost their only son becomes emotional. Will he return? Will he find his love? Watch the film to know more about the story.
