Plot
The movie’s plot revolves around a woman based in Kerala. She doesn’t have a name in the story. So, everyone address her as mother. She is a single lady who takes care of her father and her daughter all by herself. She belongs to a low-income family so to earn money she works at an organization of house maid. She also works at a writer’s house. The lady is very dedicated to her work, and she does every work that will help her earn some money.
Charu, her daughter, is caught up in her life as well. She has a boyfriend, and is good at studies. Charu and her boyfriend plan to go away to Canada to start a new life. However, Charu tells her mother that she wants to go to Canada to pursue higher studies. Her mother doesn’t want to let her down. She worked twice as hard as before to save six lakhs to help Charu in her education. But towards the end she discovered that Charu was leaving the country with her boyfriend.
Star performance
The main character of the story is Surabhi Lakshmi. In the film, she doesn’t have a name but she has done incredible work. She is the only motherly figure in the movie. Surabhi presents her character beautifully as she had depth in her acting. Surabhi also received best Actress Award in the movie. Another important character in the movie is Charu as the daughter of Surabhi. Rebecca Santhosh played her character. In the film Rebecca beautifully showed her and delivered a nuanced performance.
Other supporting cast includes Krishnan Balakrishnan, Balu Narayanan, Suresh Prem, Prem Prakash and Sunil Vikram. They have also performed exceptionally.
Analysis
Minnaminungu is a fantastic movie. The movie’s storyline is impressive as it shows the daily struggles of a single mother especially when she belongs to a low-income family. Therefore, the story is universally relevant. It is drama-based. The filmmakers in the film did a fantastic job by making this film. The acting skills of the actors were great. Specially, Surabhi Lakshmi did an impressive work. She always carried her character in her eyes even though it did not have a name. It was outstanding. The film also has an unexpected ending, which is pretty impressive. But the movie is just too sad. It will bring tear in your eyes.
Not only the script, but the overall execution of the script is elegant. However, in latter part of the film it feels to be dragged forcefully. The chemistry between the main actors and supporting actors is palpable.The film has an outstanding cinematography. The shots taken are amazing as well. The film’s songs were intense and sad that added depth to the movie.
