Plot
The film shows the life of different characters living in an upmarket apartment. The story is centred on a normal day where due to hartal the water supply has been cut by the officials. The opening scene opens with alarm bells. It focuses on a group of tenants who live together in an apartment. As the film proceeds the focus shifts on characters solving their personal issues, as it turns into a horror comedy. In the end, all the tenants come together and overcome differences.
Star performance
Dharmajan Bolgatty and Ramesh Pisharody gave brilliant performances. They tried to maintain comedy even in the most overwhelming scenes. They skillfully presented the stereotypes and other social issues prevalent in the society. Dharmajan cunningly used his acting skills to shift emotional, intense, and subtle scenes to comedy and less intense scenes. However, on the other hand, Ramesh's acting held the viewer's attention throughout the movie.
Analysis
The movie has vulgar, misogynistic scenes and double-meaning dialogues. Even the script is very horrible. It's like different comedic scenes are stitched together that don't even match each other. However, it does present a view of the lives of various characters. The blend of tragedy with comedy was so bad and fragmented that it ruined the story of the film. Without comedy, the story could have been much better. There are many weaknesses in the film, such as the plots are pretty predictable. The running time is lengthy, which becomes tedious after the interval. Main actors were excellent while the supporting cast were problematic. Their acting left a negative impact on the film's script. Sound and music was inconsistent while ruining the film's tone. Also, there was a wide range of characters; old, young, middle aged. It made it suitable for audiences belonging to various age groups. The first half of the storyline was engaging. However, it declined afterward. Dialogues of the characters were sharp, while the character's individual development was linear. The moral given in the movie is the importance of community and human connection.
What's there?
● There is comedy at every part of the story with a blend of thrillers.
● The script turns out to be interesting.
● The cinematography and visuals presented a typical homely environment in the film.
● Script covers different perspectives of different people, instead of focusing on one protagonist.
What's not there?
● The plotting of the film is uneven. It should be a linear one.
● Dialogues are misogynist and vulgar making it hard to watch the disrespect of women leads
● The hint of inconsistent music and soundtrack becomes a significant distraction.
● Plot is pretty predictable and fragmented, which makes it hard to understand the storyline.
Verdict
It is a one-time watch. Neither comedy nor thriller is delivered in the script. The direction was very bad as if multiple different comic sketches and scenes are connected together, which does not even make sense. However, an important message is given by the script. It focuses on the importance of human connection within a society that mixes different cultures and religions.
Therefore, it is a one-time watch if you love a blend of thriller and comedy.
