Plot
The story starts with the introduction of two brothers, Kichu and Achu. They belong to a financially low-income family and could not fulfil their desires and needs. However, they were lucky enough to receive education in a nearby primary school. They both desired to have bicycles so that they could easily travel to school without much work. However due to their economic poverty they weren't able to buy it. On an ordinary day, several life turning incidents took place and they were forced to go to a far city of Ernakulam. In the city things got worse, both brothers got separated from each other. The quest of brothers, finding each other in a completely new city is shown afterwards.
Star performance
Being a children friendly movie, however the lead roles are played by Gopal Master and Vasudev Master. The role of teacher and principal are played by Meera Nandan and Sai kumar respectively. Their acting skills were on point and delivered the movie's message. Sunny Wayne is shown as a god figure in the film, which guides the kids through tough times. All the stars in the film had given power pack performances including younger cast like Vasudev and Gopal.
Analysis
Gold coins is a children friendly drama. Film's title poses a dilemma as the brothers struggle right from the beginning of childhood due to financial problems in their family. So, they had no gold coins throughout their life. However, the bond shown among the brothers is beautiful and unbreakable. The moral of the film is to spread awareness between children. Many values like hard working, honesty and strong bond between siblings are shown towards the end of the film. The cinematography is relatively conventional and at the same time unique. There is a beautiful and fantastic depiction of village and city life. The contrast between both the landscape and struggle one has to go through is very much evident. The characters of Gopal and Vasudev undergo tests of human value and their character develops as the film proceeds turning them from a young boy to a more mature man with principles.
Despite all the facts, the dialogues within the movie are pretty critical. The dialogues of kids as in Gopal and Vasudev are way too dramatical and have an uptight tone. Assigning these stretchy dialogues to kids was not a very good idea as such heavy dialogue doesn't suit children's characters. Throughout the film their characters lost the innocence that every child has in their childhood which makes it a very apprehensive film. Also there was a lack of comedy which as a result makes the film lack excitement in many scenes. The plots were entirely predictable, which makes it more of a dull movie. It could have been a more exciting story by blending it with comedy. There's no doubt that the script was excellent, however the melodrama presented in the script was not delivered by the characters in the movie, which makes it an underwhelming experience throughout the story.

Kids should definitely watch this film. It possesses some interesting moral values like honesty, hard work, and a special bond within every family, providing good insight to children. They should watch this film with their parents.
