Plot
The film Alone is about a motivational speaker named Kalidasa (Mohanlal). He moved to a new flat in Kochi from Coimbatore during the Covid-19 lockdown. Her girlfriend, Yamuna (Manju Warrier), helps him to get this flat. He starts living in this flat, and everything goes smoothly. But soon, he experiences supernatural incidents around him.Â
There is no one in the house except him, but still, he hears the voices of a mother and a daughter ( (Sreedevi and Anu). After this, he feels the presence of someone in this flat. His girlfriend Yamuna tells him that it is because of his excessive drinking. But Kalidasa does not agree with her. He thinks some spirits dwell in his flat. He decides to find out the cause of these incidents on his own.Â
Why Kalidasa is experiencing such incidents? Is he hallucinating, or is there really a ghost in his flat? Will he be able to know the hidden secrets and solve this mystery?
Star Performance
Mohanlal is the only actor in this film. He excellently executed his character of motivational speaker Kalidasa. His dialogue delivery, expressions, and body language are outstanding. However, at some points, it seems that his acting looks a little bit forced. The other actors only lend their voices to this film. Out of these actors, Prithviraj (Hari Bhai) is the best. His Thironthoram slang is very appealing to the viewers.Â
Analysis
Alone is a single-actor film with only Mohanlal. He talks with all the people on the phone. Manju Warrier, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Siddique, Baiju Santosh, Suresh Krishna, and Renji Panicker have only lent their voices. The film is on the line of Jayasurya’s 2021 film Sunny. The first half is about the incidents that Kalidasa experiences. The second half shows how he solves this problem.Â
It is a suspenseful film with various horror elements. However, some necessary elements are missing that can keep the viewers engaged. Some scenes are easily predictable, due to which the film appears to be stretched. The film has several twists in the second half, but they do not create much impact. The background music is loud, which irritates the viewers. There is nothing special in the cinematography.
