Ravi Kutty (Balu Varghese) is a young boy who lives in Kochi. He suffers from night blindness due to which he has difficulty to see in the dark. From financial issues to romantic life, nothing is going well in his life. Ravi’s mother, Gomathi (Urvashi), is a devoted worshipper of Hindu gods, especially Lord Ganesha. The family has an old statute of Lord Ganesha gifted by the Cholas to their great-grandfathers. The price of the statue is in crores.

Things become interesting when a woman gives a big offer to Ravi. She promises him to give money if he steals the statue from his mother. Ravi agrees to do this because of his greed for money. Despite his night blindness, he steals the statue, but for the next step, he takes the help of thief Charles (Kalaiyarasan). Charles is a thief whom Ravi has saved from the police.

Will they steal the Lord Ganesha’s statue?

Star Performance

Balu Varghese gave an excellent performance. He shows all the emotions according to the circumstances.

Urvashi looks decent on the screen. Her character as a caring mother is appealing to the viewers. Guru Somasundaram impresses the viewers with his Tamil Slang.

The first half of Charles Enterprises is full of suspense, where the viewers learn about Ravi, his religious mother, and the precious statue of Lord Ganesha. The film also makes the viewers emotional by showing the separation of Ravi’s parents. The first half raises many questions in the minds of the viewers. Are there any special powers in the statue? How will Ravi steal it? All these questions are unveiled in the second half. However, the second half does not create the expected impact.

The film also shows the blind faith of people in religion. The viewers can see friendship, love, religion, comedy, and dreams. Despite a low budget, the background music and cinematography are superb. The Tamil folk song is remarkable. However, the film has some poorly executed scenes. Moreover, the story also becomes slow after the first half.

What’s There?

• Old Lord Ganesha’s statue.

• Ravi’s attempt to steal the statue.

• Friendship and religion.

• Comedy.

• Suspense in the second half.

• The Tamil folk song.

• Excellent performance of Balu Varghese and Kalaiyarasan Harikrishnan.

What’s Not There?

• Weak execution.

• The film becomes slow after the first half.

• Weak storyline.

• Average suspense.

Charles Enterprises has an impressive first half but a disappointing second half. However, people who love religious films will like this film.
