CAST & CREW
A movie on the life of three miserable people, and on how they tackle the happenings around them. Sanghamitra Chaudhari directed this film.
Plot: Shubh Mukherjee, Avalok Nagpal, and Amit Trishaan, together run a band in the name of 'Strings of Passion.' They suffer a lot with the problems they deal, such as drugs, depression, love failure, and bad parenting. Eventually, their paths turn towards a bad way, and each of them gets a woman in their life, for their rescue.
Analysis: Many may miss watching this movie, as they did not possess enough publicity and promotion. Factors such as lack of theaters provided, the absence of famous casts also adds to the reasons for being infamous. The director was successful in giving us a real movie. The place where she made a mistake was in choosing the right people for her crew. Riju Samantha's cinematography was bad. Poor quality visuals displayed the good looking cast as overaged people. Dev Sikdar's music flows along with the movie. 'Maji Re' will never leave our minds.
Star Performance: This movie highly relies on the performance of the cast, in an unusual ratio. From experienced people, like Zeenat Aman, to the newbie, Sonali gave a tremendous performance. The young ones almost reached equally to the senior artists. They lived those characters on screen.
What's There: The director deals with the sensitive topics as the subplots. Each of the three protagonists' parts is equally divided. This was presented beautifully on screen. This movie also got selected for many international film festivals and got nominated for many important awards as well.
What's Not There: Though the movie flows in a great flow, the use of Bengali words in the Hindi dialogues kills it at times. The flaws in the cinematography were in a bad state, and it can be identified easily throughout the movie.
Verdict: Almost a slow poison, that may linger in our minds forever.
