Plot
Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue is a film that revolves around the crisis involving the rescue of miners in 1989. It is a normal night at Raniganj Coalfields where miners are in the middle of exchanging their shifts. A blast is set out in one of the sections of the field to regulate coal veins, but it is noticed that it has caused the water shaft to leak. An urgent message is sent out and all but the deaf miners are rescued. Even their manager was deaf so none of them were able to hear the message.
Jaswant Singh Gill is the manager of a neighboring coal mine and offers to help the crew. Most of the authorities present believe that the miners might be dead at that point and that the rescue mission will be a pointless attempt. Nonetheless, Jaswant accompanied by Tapan and Bindal initiated the “Mission Raniganj”. To add to their misery, Sen, an official from Coal India is sent to hinder their mission. With all the odds against them, will the team be able to save the miners?

The movie was an absolute hit and one of the contributing factors was the stellar performance of Akshay Kumar. His portrayal of Jaswant Singh Gill was gripping enough to keep the audience intrigued.
