Ittefaq” is a thriller flick scripted and directed by Abhay Chopra. The film is co-scripted by Shreyas Jain and Nikhil Mehrotra. Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan produced the film under Red Chillies banner along with Dharma productions of Karan Johar. The movie stars with Sidharth Malhotra, Akshaye Khanna and Sonakshi Sinha in prominent roles. Tanishk Bagchi composed the music and Michal Luka cranked the camera. Pavail Gulati, Mir Sarwar, Mandira Bedi, Shankar Yadav, Himanshu Kohli, Gireesh Sahedev and Kimberly Louis McBeath are also in the star cast.

Vikram, an NRI is a popular writer, who comes to India to launch his book. After the event, he returns to the hotel room and finds his wife dead. Immediately he calls the police. But, when the police arrive at the spot, he escapes in his car. While he rushes, his car meets an accident, but luckily, Vikram escapes with injuries. He gushes into the nearby apartment to take shelter. On the same night, Maya, a homemaker, who spots the police shouts for help. When the police enter her apartment, they saw a dead body, which is supposed to be Shekar Sinha, Maya’s husband. Near the dead body, the cops find Vikram. Dev is the investigative officer in both these cases. He has to find out the real murderers. Who are Vikram and Maya? In what aspect both are linked? Watch the thriller on the big screens!

Star Performance

Among the three main roles, Akshaye Khanna scores well than Sidharth and Sonakshi. Sidharth’s expressions are not impressive and Sonakshi has got a minimum screen time.

Although the film is the adaptation of the 1969 movie of the same name, it didn’t impress much with its screenplay. The revelation parts of Sidharth and Sonakshi are shown in installments, which could have been shown in a single sequence.

What’s There?

  • Akshaye’s performance is excellent; he has emoted well

What’s Not There?

  • Sidharth’s performance is not attractive
  • Sonakshi could have been given few more scenes

Ittefaq is a slow paced thriller with enough twists and turns in the story. Although it has a lot of thriller elements, it could not match the original. However, the film is worth watching for Akshaye’s performance.
