CAST & CREW
Indra Kumar produced & directed Dhamaal film series. ‘Double Dhamal’ is a sequel to 2007-released movie ‘Dhamaal.' Many top stars like Sanjay Dutt, Mallika Sherawat, Kangana Ranaut, Arshad Warsi, Riteish Deshmukh, Aashish Chaudhary & Javed Jaaferi acted in the movie.
The Dhamaal team – Manav, Boman, Adi, Roy were behind money in the first series. Here, they are planning to trick their enemy cop & conman Kabir by cluttering up his professional & personal life. The con game begins & there is never-ending chaos in the entire movie. This bunch of 4 weird friends tries to win over Kabir to get a partnership in his firm. Kabir is having a girlfriend Kamini & a sister Kiya. A local gangster is behind the four friends. It is always retribution & rivalry between the four friends and Kabir. Being the smartest conman, naturally Kabir wins at the end.
It is a big troupe of clowns trying hard to take our attention & dominates the screen with their sloppy humor. Sanjay Dutt shines in few scenes. Mallika & Kangana are trivial showpieces throughout the movie. Arshad, Jaaved, Aashish, Riteish portrayed their characters confidently. The comic timing of Arshad is amazing. It’s a hard role for Javed to do but he did it with his charm. It is one of Riteish’s good performance to date. Overall four of these actors can manage to take our attentions, but there’s no chemistry between them. Satish Kaushik portrayed a local gangster character with ease.
In ‘ Double Dhamaal’, there are two leading women. Most of the jokes are stupid &meaningless. Dhamaal was kind of okay & fun to watch. This sequel is more eccentric than funny. It is disappointing to see a good filmmaker in 90’s making this kind of movie. Indra Kumar lost control of the script & essence of his light comedy, which he uses to bring in his movies. There’s nothing in this film to laugh about & it is clearly made for the audience who enjoys popular trashy humor. Double Dhamaal lives up to its genre.
WHAT’S NOT THERE?
Double Dhamaal is an average Hindi comedy drama. This film is for the audience, who are looking for an illogical & brainless comedy to pass their time in multiplexes.
