CAST & CREW
Aladin is your one usual fairytale story with a touch of modern lifestyle to it.
Aladin has a variety of star cast starting from Riteish Deshmukh, Jacqueline and, of course, the sinister and the extremely talented Sanjay Dutt.
Aladin Bannerjee(Riteish Deshmukh) is a simple but sweet guy who has got a good heart but has a very shy nature. His parents died when he was a small child reason unknown to him thus making him sad and lonely at times. Then enters Jasmine (Jacqueline Fernandes) and our Aladin falls head over heels for her but lacks the guts to ask her out, she, on the other hand, finds him to be very sweet and caring.
Aladin’s life rolls steadily but is soon turned upside down when Genius( Amitabh Bachchan) a powerful Genie unexpectedly drops into his life. The peaceful life of Aladin gets ruptured as Genius proves to be a maniac and makes him perform weird things, and as genies usually grant wishes Genius grants him three wishes, Aladin wishes for Jasmine to fall for him which eventually turns out to be a disaster that he eventually wishes to be reverted.
Sidewise the antagonist of this movie who is none other Sanjay Dutt who is called by the name “Ringmaster” an evil Genie who seeks a Magic Lamp which would make him the most powerful genie of all time. Also, it is revealed that he was the one who killed Aladin’s parents and the fact that Aladin’s mother was the owner of that Lamp and wished for her son’s protection. The rest of the story is how Aladin helps Genius defeat the evil Ringmaster.
This movie is nowhere near to the original masterpiece though the concept of making a modern version of it was commendable it did not take off well. Ritesh looks extremely confused in his role and looks more stupid than innocent and cute. Jacqueline looks like Jasmine but still cannot render her pleasant presence on screen.
Amitabh has portrayed his role well and with frivolity and displays an appealing act, the only thing Audience would rejoice. Sanjay Dutt looks promising and fills up for the dull moments in this movie with his sadistic acting. Cinematography and Screenplay are nice with surreal world of fantasy created in this movie.
Amitabh and Sanjay are the lone star performers in this movie. While Amitabh charms us with his good genie act Sanjay molds our attention towards evil genie who is hungry for power and is sadistic as well.
This two rose up with the magic carpet and took this movie with them as well.
Surreal Cinematography and Screenplay with scenes being edited nicely.
Nice performances by Amitabh Bachchan and Sanjay Dutt.
Age old story told in a modern way but still with an old touch.
WHAT’S NOT THERE?
Except the lead, Starcast everyone disappoints.
The story progresses in an awkward manner and is not a fantasy treat.
Go and watch the real Aladin instead of this, unless you are a fan ofAmitabh and Sanjay this movie won’t appeal to you and would prove a total waste of your time.
