Plot
The film revolves around four Chicago widows who come together to carry out a robbery that their husbands were planning to do. Harry Rawlings and his gang are shot dead by police when they steal $2,000,000 from Jamal Manning. Now, Jamal wants his money and threatens Harry’s widow, Veronica.
Bash, Harry’s loyal driver, gives her a key of the safety box. This box contains a notebook in which Harry and his gang wrote a detailed plan to steal $ 5,000,000 from Jack Mulligan, a local politician’s home. Veronica decides to execute this plan in order to pay back $2 million to Jamal.
She carries out this plan together with three other widows of Harry’s gang, namely Alice, Linda, and Amanda. Will they be successful in executing this $ 5 million robbery?
Star Performance
Viola Davis, who played the role of Veronica, looks terrific on the screen. Her performance is the best. She alone makes the film thrilling. Michelle Rodriguez, Elizabeth Debicki, and Carrie Coon, the three other widows in this film, delivered a fantastic performance. Their acting looks real and natural on screen. Colin Farrell and Brian Tyree Henry look very strong in their respective roles of Mulligan and Jamal. The rest of the cast delivered good performance.
Analysis
The film Widows is full of twists and fabulous performances by the cast. Oscar-winning director Steve McQueen has done a commendable job with co-writer Gillian Flynn. It has thriller and action elements in a balanced proportion. Viola Davis is the strength of this film. Half of the film is enjoyable because of her only. However, the movie runs at a slow speed in some scenes, which makes it a little unegaging.

• Some scenes in the movie are slow-paced.

Verdict
All in all, Widows is a worth-watch movie. Some scenes run slowly, but it does not have much impact on the whole movie. Are you looking for an action movie with a pinch of twist? This one is highly recommended.
