Star Performance
Viola Davis had done a fantastic job as General Nanisca. Her body language, expressions through her eyes, and dialogue delivery are amazing. Her chemistry with Thuso Mbedu is excellent and both of them lived the characters. John Boyega is impressive in the King role.
Analysis
Set in the early 19th Century, the film showcases the power of women and their patriotism. The script is well-written, and the screenplay is engaging. There is no single lag moment, and all the stars fit well in their respective characters. The VFX work is excellent, and the sound design is impressive. The characters are penned well, and the team picked the right stars and assigned them with proper characters. A few scenes dealing with the Kings and their life partners could’ve been avoided, as those scenes didn’t have any significant impact on the story’s flow.
