as Sarah Hawks. Welcome to the Punch is a story of an ex-criminal named Jacob whose son is involved in a robbery that went wrong.Â
Jacob is pushed to go back to London from Icelandic refuge when his son is caught. This incident gives one and only chance to detective Max to catch the person he had been after for a long time. As they meet, they start discovering a deep conspiracy. To live, they both need to solve this conspiracy. Jacob is a character that seems a cold-blooded killer, but at the same time the audiences will sympathize with him.Â
All the supporting actors have played their part very well. Dialogues are written by someone witty and someone who knows what he/she is writing. However, the story is not that good; it is just an average plot. It was predictable which does not work for this kind of a film. The action is fine; we see cops using guns that in London do not happen, the cops in London do not use guns, but here they are forced to use fireworks.Â
It brings back the time of the 80s and 90s, making you feel nostalgic. If one is looking for entertainment without questioning for few hours, then this movie is your taste, but if you expect more from the good cast and good budget, then it is a disappointment. There is a lack of intensity and in spite of every great element; this film does not turn up as a classic. It would have worked if the story writing was done with a bit more depth.
