Plot

The story is based in the Europe of 1989. When Her Majesty’s Secret Intelligence Service agent Lorraine Broughton is sent to West Berlin to catch a British double agent and find out the existing operatives.

Analysis

Everything in the film is about Lorraine ( Charlize Theron She’s one of the most exquisite beauty queens in H >> Read More... ). The opening scene is Lorraine in a dimly lit bathroom emerging out of a bathtub full of iced water with bruises on her back, that’s the first time you see she’s a total badass. She’s indifferent and means business. Her posture and attitude make her tailor-made for the job. The movie is completely packed with amazing action sequences (The director is known for his kick with action drama). Throughout the movie, Lorraine has used all her surrounding items to utmost use, be it her heels or the freezer door. She has her little history with the MI6 agent in West Berlin and is thankfully shown only own in a dream/ flashback. What happens next what is decided her fate. But that’s the thing, the film is all about action and suffers from a poorly constructed storyline. We understand that the director here isn’t quite a storyteller because of his mastery in action, but a profane story is what we would want. It is a good flick to watch.

Star Performances

Charlize Theron is all that a female Bond requires. She’s cold, indifferent, and badass and a definite warrior. She uses anything and everything that she can grab to defend herself (which she does a lot). She’s good at expressing her emotions without being vocal. The other actors have also done a phenomenal job, but Atomic Blonde is all about Charlize Theron.

What’s there?

Atomic Blonde is a string of good action sequences.

They are unique and beautifully executed as well.

What’s not there?

A strong storyline. The director is so busy shooting the action sequences that he hardly gives any importance to the narrative.

Verdict

Atomic Blonde is a yet another thriller experience with quite some James Bond touch to it. Charlize Theron who plays the led Lorraine Broughton is quite the show stealer and, you should watch it only for Theron and good action sequences.
