strikes back with a new horror/fantasy and romance flick, where you'll be forced to not only open your mind to new concepts but will also learn the most important thing of all, Love has no bounds.
PLOT
Set in the late 1960s, this is the story of a quaint woman named Eliza Esposito, who is not able to speak due to a mysterious childhood incident. She lives a quiet and simple life, has a few friends whom she loves dearly and understands very well.
One of these friends is her co-worker (

). Due to her inability to speak, she listens more carefully to what others say and is more observant fo her surroundings. She works at a secret scientific experimental campus. Part of her job description is to clean the campus and not ask questions. Things go smoothly for a while till a strange humanoid, amphibian creature, is bought into the lab.
Micheal Shannon plays the role of Strickland, a government agent, who is convinced that the only way to ascertain the actual properties of this creature is by ‘tearing it apart piece by piece’.
After Eliza discovers how badly this creature is being treated, she starts to visit it secretly, tries to communicate with his and gives him food too.
On realizing what plans Strickland has for the creature, she and her friends plan a covert mission to break him out of the facility.
The question remains, do they succeed? How can Eliza communicate with this mysterious creature so well while the others are terrified at the sight of him?
ANALYSIS
Guillermo Del Toro has portrayed the story in such a quaint atmosphere, with a heavy scent of the Cold War around the whole story. The graphics around the alien creature’s character create the desired, disturbing and sweet effect too.
The sounds visuals add to the eccentricity of the movie and by the end of it, one realizes that the good will always defeat the bad. It may take a while, but it always does.
STAR PERFORMANCES
Sally Hawkins’s portrayal of Eliza Esposito as a timid, observant, eccentric woman is phenomenal, so is the support and acting of Octavia Spencer (Zelda). It is not a surprise that she has been nominated for an Oscar for her brilliant portrayal!
