Plot: This movie is all about three main characters Adam ( Mark Ruffalo Born on November 22, 1967, in Wisconsin, U.S, Mark >> Read More... ), Neil ( Josh Gad Joshua IIan Gad was born on February 23, 1981. Hi >> Read More... ) and Mike ( Tim Robbins A multiple talents infused into one person. A tale >> Read More... ), who are being addicted to sex and working their best to overcome it. They together attend meetings and wish to lead a normal life. Adam meets Phoebe ( Gwyneth Paltrow She is known to be one of the most charismatic and >> Read More... ) and likes her. But he never reveals his problem when he comes to know that she was already a victim of an abusive sex addicted boyfriend. Dede (Alecia Moore) is the only woman in their team group who is also an addict. After some short time, Dede and Neil get into a relationship.
Meanwhile, Phoebe comes to know about Adam’s weakness and leaves him. Dejected Adam got back with his old addictions such as having sex and masturbating. Mike’s son Danny (who was a former drug addict), got along well with his father. Danny’s mother, Katie’s tablet went missing, and Mike suspected Danny, which turned into a duel. Unwittingly, Danny pushes Katie down and runs away. At the pay-off, they try to quick-fix their problems with the help of each of the other addicts in their team.
Director Stuart Blumberg is unclear about the genre. If the movie had used so much of sex scenes, it would have been a date type of movie. He has explained in more detail about the struggle that they face while they suffer from this sort of addiction. Few of the scenes were seemed to be close to the reality whereas few failed to do so. Dismally, the base material failed to be strong. The random shifts happening from each addict’s versions is not much engaging and gives us a sloppy feel. Ruffalo, Robbins, and Paltrow show a full commitment with their roles. But getting too much of star actors to involve in the story, but they never give us a complete feel. This movie has received some mixed and average reviews, mostly owing to the reason of instability in the script.
Verdict: Director tried his best to give an alloy of drama and comedy, but failed miserably.
