Seeking a Friend for the End of the World"

Love sparks at the end of the world.
Plot:
An asteroid is going to strike the earth, and it will create significant impacts. On hearing this, Dodge tries to track his high school girlfriend, Olivia. Dodge's neighbor, Penny, Â breaks up with her boyfriend for not letting her visit her family for one last time.Â
Dodge and Penny make a deal that, if Penny helps him in reaching Olivia, he will help her to get back to her family in return. They both agree to this, and they start their journey. During their journey, they make love. Once reaching the venue, Dodge meets Speck, who is going to help Penny to reach England. He also comes to know that Speck is Dodge's estranged father.
So Dodge puts the sleeping Penny inside the plane and gets back to his home. After some time, they share their feelings that they missed knowing each other before. A blast is heard at the back, and the screen fades.Â
Most of the screenplay works is extracted from a 1998 movie 'Last Night' by McKellar, but no credits were given to him.Â
Scafaria's work as a director is promising. Storytelling style and the way she framed the scenes are good. She also included some good scenes, that gives life to the story and makes it lively. She succeeds in conveying such a story in a witty and a light-hearted way.
At times, logic gives a kick on us. It is not possible to predict a meteor to strike a week earlier, as both meteor and the earth are non-stationary objects. Also, the love between Dodge and Penny is unbelievable.
Penny (Keira Knightley,) and Dodge( Steve Carell), were funny, and they aptly express the real mentality of the people during an apocalypse. Carell performance is high in most of the emotional scenes. Penny's tears do not make much impact on us.
A fascinating aspect of the movie is how they sketch the mood and acts of the people during such situations.
